David Bode has over 30 years of experience with customer service, sales and marketing in industrial and manufacturing environments. In his current position, David is responsible for process, product and market development of specialty carbon and graphite materials.
Dennis Brandl, BR&L Consulting

ISA 95 Implementations and the New Models for Collaborative Production Management
Mr. Brandl is the chief consultant at BR&L consulting. He has been involved in MES, batch control, and automation system design and implementation in a wide range of applications over the past 25 years. His experience has included Space Shuttle system testing, automated systems for chemical plants and oil refineries, manual and automated systems for pharmaceutical and food & beverage production. Dennis Brandl has been an active member of ISA’s SP88 Batch Control System committee for the past eleven years and was the committee secretary for five years. He is one of the two USA experts in batch control to IEC SC65A/WG11, and is the editor of ISA’s 95 Enterprise-Control System Integration standard. Mr. Brandl is also the convener of the IEC and ISO Joint Working Group on Enterprise/Control Integration. He has written numerous papers and articles on business to manufacturing integration and flexible manufacturing solutions. Mr. Brandl has a BS in Physics (1973) and an MS in Measurement and Control (1974) from Carnegie-Mellon University, and a MS in Computer Science (1990) from California State University.
Dan Englehard, Hampton Tilley

Lean and MES: Alignment, Coordination and Integration for High Performance
Dan Engelhard is a native of St. Louis and earned his Electrical Engineering degree (BSEE) from University of Missouri – Columbia. After receiving his undergraduate Dan worked for Rockwell Automation for Seven (7) years between Milwaukee, WI; Nashville, TN and Louisville, KY. During his time with Rockwell Dan receives his Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Louisville. Dan next joined a small System Integration firm called SNE Systems as the Business Development Manager. SNE Systems focused on the automation software of high speed sortation systems. SNE Systems grew from an 18 person engineer firm to 150+ engineers and was acquired by FKI Logistex. After a couple of years with FKI Logistex, Dan then joined Hampton-Tilley Associates (St. Louis) as an Account Executive specializing in productivity and cost reduction projects with attractive ROI utilizing Manufacturing Execution System (MES) software to make real time business decisions for benefit of the end user. Dan is married with two (2) boys and enjoys playing and coaching soccer, skiing, running, and biking.

Kevin Fenters founded Pyramid Software in 1998 to provide MES technology mentoring and software applications development for both manufacturers and automation solutions providers. Kevin has 20 years of manufacturing experience in diverse areas including operations management, IT management and process engineering. He holds a Masters Degree in Integrated Manufacturing Systems Engineering with an emphasis in Artificial Intelligence and Information Handling Systems from North Carolina State University.

Julie Fraser is a recognized industry analyst, consultant and marketer, specializing in manufacturing and distribution strategies and application solutions. Mike Grasley, Aseco

Michael Grasley has been with Aseco since 1991, working in both Automation & Control and Manufacturing Execution Systems. As Director, MES, he has overall responsibility to determine the direction of Aseco’s MES offerings and oversees the MES delivery group. In his role as one of ASECO’s senior MES staff, Michael provides consulting to clients and internal ASECO teams in areas such as best practices for manufacturing information and automation systems, integration of plant floor systems with corporate systems, adaptation of new technologies into current processes, and the development of long-term manufacturing information system plans.

Kreg Kukor started his Quality Career in Canada working through numerous positions in a variety of Industries. He has held positions within the local ASQ chapter as Education and Certification Chairman while residing in Canada. Kreg’s industrial Experience crosses many diverse Industries; Metals, Wood, Plastics, Aluminum, Agricultural, Medical and Electronics. He has held management positions within Kaiser Aluminum, Lear Automotive, Collins and Aikman Plastics and is currently Divisional Quality Manager of Cequent Electrical Products a producer of Electronic Brake Control Modules and Lighting Accessories for the OEM and Aftermarket.

Shaun McGinnis, Hitachi Computer Products

Shaun McGinnis is a Production Engineering Manager at Hitachi Computer Products, America in Norman, Oklahoma. He was the Project Lead for the Mfg Transaction Project that initiated the development of an integrated MES system. His previous Manufacturing Systems experience includes Functional Lead of PeopleSoft Implementation Team which implemented a wide array of PeopleSoft Modules included MRP and Manufacturing.

John Moore, eQuality Program Manager at KLA-Tencor, is responsible for improving operational efficiency across the company through processes and quality improvements. John held several positions within KLA-Tencor in production and engineering management in the Reticle and Photomask “Rapid” Division. Previously, John Moore was an officer in the United States Air Force at the Space and Missile Systems Center where he served various positions in satellite acquisitions, production, test and operations. John participated as a TQM facilitator, served on the Quality council and was the regional Air Force community representative for the city of Torrance. John Moore received his bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Vermont and a Masters Degree Business Administration from Chapman University.

Richard Morley, best known as the father of the programmable computer, has been named one of our featured speakers for the event!

Mr. Morley is the leading visionary in the field of advanced technological development. He is the recipient of the Franklin Institute's prestigious Howard N. Potts Award and is an inductee of the Automation Hall of Fame. He holds more than twenty US and foreign patents, including those for the parallel inference machine, the hand-held terminal, the programmable logic controller and magnetic thin film.

Currently, he is the Chairman of the Board of National Center of Manufacturing Sciences (NCMS), Director at Large for the Society Manufacturing Engineers (SME) and a member of the Manufacturing Advisory Board for Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI).

Julio has almost 25 years of experience in material handling equipment for the newspaper industry, including stackers, wrappers, bundle conveyors, roll handling / AGV systems, robotic & standard palletizers and automated distribution systems. He has held various positions from Electrical Engineering Manager, Project Manager, Quality Control Manager, Field Service and Electronic Technician. Julio was the Operations Manager at IDAB Wamac’s Hong Kong office for six years and traveled to many newspapers in Asia and Europe, overlooking sales, installations and service. Julio joined The Washington Post in 2000 as the Control Systems Engineering Manager for the IT Department and became the Operations Engineering Manager in the Production Department in 2001.

Randy Randall is Assistant Manager of IT Factory Systems at Fuji Photo Film, Inc. in Greenwood, South Carolina. Randy has been with Fujifilm for eight years working in several businesses including Photographic Products, Medical Devices, and Graphic Arts. He graduated from Clemson University in 1989 with a Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering. Randy currently leads a team of seven engineers in Fujifilm’s Factory Systems Group. The Factory Systems Group is responsible for MES and Legacy production system support and development for Fujifilm’s North American Manufacturing facilities. He is also a husband and father of three children.
Bruce Richardson, Senior Vice President, Research, AMR Research
KEYNOTE PRESENTATION: "Why Manufacturing Matters"
Bruce Richardson has been analyzing the software market for more than 20 years. Since joining AMR Research in 1988, he has been responsible for spearheading new research directions, contributing to the company's analysis of leading market trends, and presenting AMR's analysis in public forums throughout the world.

Prior to AMR Research, Bruce held senior marketing management positions within the software and networking industries. He currently serves on Mass eComm’s Leadership Roundtable Series Advisory Board and is a member of the Boston College Technology Council.

Bruce graduated cum laude from Boston College.

Richard Santoriello, Lenox, Inc.

Rich Santoriello has been with Lenox China slightly over 9 years. Rich started at the Kinston, NC Manufacturing Plant as an analyst participating on the MRP II implementation team. During his 2 years in the Plant, Rich realized the need to connect disparate data across multiple systems in order to better manage the processes on the Plant Floor. As a result of Rich's efforts he was re-assigned to the corporate IT office in order to standardize and integrate Plant Floor systems across five manufacturing Plants. This is Rich’s third MES speaking appearance at a MESA Conference.

2004 MES Product Survey Report
Jan Snoeij graduated from the Technical University Eindhoven (Physics) in 1981 and has more than 20 years of experience in consulting in industrial automation. He was active in assisting companies improve their production and business performances by making use of information systems (CIM - Computer Integrated Manufacturing) and robotics (FPA - Flexible Production Automation). He has broad experience in many different industry segments, including textiles, metals, electronics, food and pharmaceuticals.

Jan has been a principal member of the consultancy team of LogicaCMG's MES Competence Centre since 1999. His position allows him to be an all-round Manufacturing Enterprise Solutions' specialist by giving presentations and lectures at conferences, congresses, seminars and publications. He is also participating in the Technical Committee of MESA International.

Together with co-author Reinoud Visser, Jan recently published the fifth report of the "MES Product Survey".

 
Walt Staehle, Kraft Foods, Inc.

MANUFACTURING EXCELLENCE AWARDS - FINALIST
Mr. Staehle is the Director of Manufacturing Execution & Shop Floor Information Systems for Kraft Foods North America. Prior to this promotion, he was the Plant and General Manager of Kraft Foods’ one million square foot regional manufacturing and distribution center located in Allentown, Pa. Walt and his plant leadership team received both regional and statewide manufacturing achievement awards. He has also co-authored, presented and published numerous articles on Operations Management and served on several Board of Directors.

Mr. Staehle holds a BA in Economics from Muhlenberg College, an MA (Summa Cum Laude) in Business Management from Central Michigan University and completed post-graduate work in Operations Management, Manufacturing Strategy for Competitive Advantage, and Integrated Supply Chain Management at Stanford University.

Chris Towns, Pemstar, Inc.

MANUFACTURING EXCELLENCE AWARDS - FINALIST
Chris Towns has more than 17 years of manufacturing experience at electronics manufacturers such as Pemstar, Quadrus, Avex and what is now known as Sanmina-SCI. As IT Director of Corporate Applications at Pemstar, Chris orchestrates the deployment and optimization of leading enterprise systems across multiple geographic facilities. Chris helped create innovative “virtually distributed applications” for manufacturing that include centralized servers, wireless thin-clients and a Citrix metaframe application delivery method. In his years in manufacturing operations, he has implemented four MES systems, Agile’s PDM system and ERP systems. Chris has automated radio stations, run networks and lead a technical group for GE Medical Systems. He is an accomplished speaker, most recently seen at Agility 2003, and is quoted in leading trade publications such as MSI and Managing Automation. Chris spent four years in the U.S. Air Force.

Roberto Werneck do Carmo, Senior Project Manager, Chemtech

How to Leverage MES with RTM
Roberto Werneck is a Chemical Engineer with an M. Sc. degree from the Federal University of Rio, Brazil. He joined Chemtech, a Siemens company, in 1999. As a project manager, he coordinated the implementation of MES for CSN, Brazil's largest steel mill. Currently, he is in the executive committee of the MES implementation for 7 steel mills for Belgo Mineira. Last year, Roberto was the project manager for the implementation of Operational Intelligence solutions at Saudi Aramco.
