The Manufacturing Enterprise Solutions Association, MESA International, held its 2nd annual Plant to Enterprise Conference October 9-12, 2006 at the Walt Disney Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, Florida. The four days included education, networking and case studies from a variety of manufacturing companies and processes.

The conference brought more than 220 individuals from 13 countries to address manufacturing plant floor interoperability. Over 80 attendees also took advantage of career growth opportunities by participating in a variety of training courses addressing interoperability standards and P2E integration.

This year’s conference, again dedicated to Plant to Enterprise was the perfect opportunity to learn how world-class organizations are improving their businesses and becoming more competitive by leveraging technology and plant-to-enterprise initiatives. This year’s tagline, Solving the Puzzle of Manufacturing Excellence highlighted how companies assembled the many pieces of a manufacturing landscape, PLM, SCADA, PLC’s, ERP, MES, CRM, and the remaining alphabet soup, to complete the puzzle and become a world-class organization.

This year’s keynote, Dr. Michael Treacy, former Chief Strategist, GEN3 Partners delivered an excellent presentation on how great companies take a disciplined path to achieve growth by focusing on a fundamental set of business priorities. Other topics included analyst presentations from Aberdeen Research, ARC Advisory Group, IDC Manufacturing Insights and Industry Directions as well as the unveiling of the MESA study Metrics that Matter.

The MESA P2E conference, an annual event that explores the importance, challenges and successes of connecting plant floor operations and business processes to the enterprise continues to grow and thrive thanks to a timely and important topic that many global manufacturers seek to achieve.
