Speakers Bureau

The MESA Speakers Bureau is a pool of subject matter experts who are available to MESA, other professional organizations, and companies that would like a speaker on a given topic for their event or company meeting. The subject areas these experts address span the full spectrum of MES, from the integration into ERP, through all aspects of MES, and down into the integration of the PLC and SCADA layer.

Guidelines

  • The requesting organization or company will pay each speaker's travel expenses.
  • Speaker's presentation must include the "What is MESA" slide show at end of each presentation.

Paul Barden

Paul joined SAP in 1995 as a member of the Automotive Industry Center of Expertise (ICOE) whose mission was to establish SAP in the Automotive Industry. Prior to joining SAP, Paul worked in a variety of roles in the areas of Supply Chain Management and ERP implementations at Textron, ITT Automotive, Ernst & Young, Integral Systems. Paul has hands on experience in all phases of Supply Chain Management, led more than 20 MRP/ERP implementations, developed and taught Supply Chain and ERP classes, and conducted Supply Chain Assessments/Enhancements. Currently, he is a Supply Chain Solution Principal providing thought leadership and go to market strategies.

 

Stephen Belfield

Stephen has more than 25 years experience in the application of computers, PLCs, drives, motor control centers, and instrumentation for process control and discrete parts manufacturing systems. His experience encompasses MES, SCADA and PLC design and development, project engineering, project management and network administration. Stephen is currently the Automation Team Lead for the Wyeth MES project. His scope includes integrating SCADA, batch engine, DCS and data historian components of automation into an EBR.

Paul Boris

With over 20 years of manufacturing experience, Paul has a long history of managing sites and supporting Operational Excellence initiatives. He started with General Motors in the Assembly Division, and has been responsible for facilities in all manufacturing modes. In 1996, Paul began applying his skills to the deployment of technology within manufacturing, working with one of the larger MES Integration firms. He later joined Lighthammer Software Development as the Director of Performance Solutions, and is now a Director of Business Development in Emerging Solutions for SAP. He currently supports efforts around SAP Manufacturing and the xAPP for Manufacturing Integration & Intelligence (xMII).

Julie Fraser

Julie Fraser is President of Cambashi Inc. She is currently heading research with MESA International on metrics to support major initiatives such as Lean, Real-time Enterprise, and Total Quality. Fraser has 20 years experience as a manufacturing systems industry advisor, marketer, speaker and consultant. Prior to joining Cambashi, she was Principal of Industry Directions, VP Marketing for Baan Supply Chain Solutions, Senior Analyst on MES and Integration at AMR, and editor of the CIM Strategies newsletter. Fraser has a degree with honors from Lawrence University in Wisconsin, and is active in MESA International.

 

Charlie Gifford

Charlie Gifford has developed advanced manufacturing systems in a wide variety of industries, aerospace, electronics, food and beverage, telecom, energy and life sciences for the past 25 years. He is a nationally recognized expert in combining Lean Manufacturing practices with Production Management Systems. His background includes hands-on design, design supervision and team leadership. As an industry leader in professional organizations such as ISA and Supply Chain Council and MESA International, he has contributed and taught many MES Standards, such as ISA-88, ISA-95 and SCOR models. He is published over 35 papers on the subject of production management best practices as well as a book, Hitchhikers Guide to Manufacturing Operations Management: ISA-95 Best Practices.

Khris Kammer

For 15 years, Khris has focused on the application of computer software and information systems to the improvement of manufacturing processes. His experience began with the design, development, and application of SPC (Statistical Process Control) software, and expanded into the more general field of MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) in the mid-90s. Since then, Khris has served in various MES functions for large and small companies, ranging from the management of engineering, consulting, and support departments to customer account management and hands-on business consulting. In his current role at Rockwell Automation, he manages MES consulting, training, and support globally. Khris is also active in the MES community, holding the chair of the MESA Technical Committee since 2003, and working collaboratively with WBF, ISA, and other industry cornerstones to develop and extend the profession of MES.

Bianca Scholten

Bianca Scholten is the author of the book called "The Road to Integration: A Guide to Applying the ISA-95 Standard in Manufacturing". She's is a partner at Ordina, one of the largest publicly traded consultancy service providers in the Netherlands and Belgium in the areas of information and communication technology and management. Ms. Scholten advises national and international industrial companies on how to determine their manufacturing automation strategies. Ms. Scholten is a voting member of the SP95 committee. She publishes regularly in trade journals and frequently speaks at conferences on subjects related to vertical integration and technical automation. She has trained hundreds of professionals in applying the ISA-88 and the ISA-95 standard.

 

Reinoud Visser

Reinoud has over fifteen years of experience in consulting in industrial automation, specifically on the level between the control and ERP systems. He has a broad experience in a variety of industry segments and has made several studies (annual MES Product Survey) and presentations on MES systems and their vendors. Reinoud is member of ISA and WBF, and is a founding member of the MESA European chapter.

 

Michael Young

Michael founded and serves as President of QCR. QCR is a consulting and systems development company specializing in mistake-proofing business processes. He designed and managed the development of IQS/SMART, an Activity Based Quality Execution System focused on process management, productivity improvement, quality and statistical process control. SMART's clients have included Abbott Labs, NCR, Nokia, ATT, Compaq, Tellabs, Samsung, General Electric and Honda. Michael has over 30 years of experience as a quality professional. He participated in the manufacturing startups of Datapoint Corporation and Compaq Computer Corporation in Houston. Director of Product Integrity, Director of Materials and Director of Manufacturing Operations are the positions he held while working for Compaq. Before Compaq, Michael was Vice President in the Creative Services Division for Philip Crosby noted author and Quality guru. He was on the team that developed the Quality Education System (QES), used throughout the world to teach executives the principles of Quality Management. Over the years, he has had the opportunity to work with industry professionals like Ed Deming, SPC expert and Ollie White, the father of MRP systems. Michael received a degree at the University of Texas at Arlington and an MBA at Arizona State University. He is the author of numerous articles, speeches and seminars on productivity and quality improvement.
