Hazem Khayat specializes in the integration of engineering information and has extensive experience consulting both EPC and OO sectors of the process and marine industry. He is currently the Regional Technical Sales Manager for AVEVA in the Middle East & Africa Region leveraging the value of intelligent engineering and design systems, 3D data capture technology, and information management solutions.

In his current role, Hazem has advised major Middle East Operators in redefining software guidelines and information standards as a foundation for better and more efficient greenfield, brownfield and as-built projects. He has also led large-scale implementations of AVEVA's systems and provided consultative engagements for key EPC players in the region.


Abstract:
The integration and re-use of validated process engineering data can significantly improve quality and efficiency of the design process for capital projects. By using one source of data throughout the lifecycle of a project, integrity and consistency can be guaranteed, leading to an error-free process Today's traditional Plant design processes are based usually around a principle where the drawing is very poorly or not at all linked to the model. This means that in effect two versions of the plant design exist, the 3D model and the 2D drawing.

This leads to the risk that these two versions become out of sync as design evolves with many changes. Decisions can easily be made against information which is no longer valid or out of date. Not only is this risky but deeply inefficient as time is wasted reworking the 2D drawings to keep them in line with the 3D model. This problem is magnified on larger projects where global execution adds a further degree of complexity to keep the design information aligned. It is easy to recognize the sheer scale of the cost of this effort.

Within the Middle East region, the last 5 years have seen a tremendous uptake in institutionalizing the concept of Operational Excellence beyond the definition stage. Till recently, most Operational Excellence programs were anchored around enabling independent Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) processes with technology. Prior to joining the Leidos Cyber team, Dan held a number of leadership positions in in operations, strategy, program management, and business development serving both federal and commercial customers in 14 years at Lockheed Martin. Thony started his career at Price-Waterhouse-Coopers in 1992 until he moved to the drilling business in oil and gas industry and later to oil and gas production with Weatherford Production Systems in Latin America. He brings experience in management of operations and implementation of automation and optimization projects in oil and gas facilities and has also participated on a number of Digital Oilfield deployments in South America, Middle East and Asia.
Thony holds a degree in Oil & Gas Production Operations from Metropolitan University in Caracas and Bachelor degree in Accounting from Universidad Central de Venezuela.

Abstract:
In the case of E&P companies with a diverse type of operating assets, multiple locations and diverse production methods, standardization of data management procedures and visualization represent key drivers for the increase of efficiency, reduce re-works and elimination of wasted efforts. Mr. Frow has over thirty years' experience within the Owner Operator, EPC and Software industry.
Most recently, Mr. Frow has been responsible for the provision of information technology to the Stampede Development project being constructed, owned and operated by the Owner Operator Hess Corporation in the Gulf of Mexico USA. The project is a tension leg platform in 3,000 feet of water with planned 'first oil' for 2017 and a budget of $6bn.
Within the EPC environment, Mr. Frow has managed the Information technology support of several, large onshore and offshore projects for major EPC's such as Kvaerner, Brown & Root and M.W.Kellogg in London, England.
Within AVEVA, Mr. Frow has held positions managing application consultants and Program Management. He is currently working as a Principal Consultant with AVEVA Solutions based in the UAE.

3D visualization coupled to an integrated, single-source of truth repository of asset information, has the potential to improve efficiency and reduce the risk of safety incidents.

The science of (data-driven) prediction is a race between the increasing complexity of the real world and our accelerating ability to mathematically represent it by means of information-technology-related capabilities, such as neural network models.

The talk will introduce basic feed-forward neural networks for non-linear regression tasks and time-delay recurrent neural networks for modeling dynamical systems. Examples from real-world industrial applications will be given that outline the merits of such a modeling approuch. Among others we will deal with the modeling of e.g. the energy supply from renewable sources, enegry load forecasting as well as the forecasting of commodity prices and the identification of features responsible for component failures.

He is specialized in Process simulation and modeling, numerical methods as applied to modeling problems in chemical engineering and software development & project management. Dr. Kovach has a wide experience, ranging from implementation of Optimization projects, to intimate engagement in the development of Invensys's ROMeo Suite of on-line modeling tools. Before joining Invensys - SimSci in 1993 he worked for Shell Oil Company and Chevron Research Company. Dr. Kovach is the author of several publications around on-line modeling and optimization.

Abstract:
Process models are known to be used for design and evaluation of processes, nearly always off-line, giving a kind of "after the facts" insight in the behavior of the plant. Putting models on-line, interacting with process historians, one can read a plant's performance in real-time allowing timely anticipation of problems, and hence saving potential loss of production by inefficient operation. Invensys's suite of On-line Modeling Products, ROMeo, helps operations achieve this. Ahsan Yousufzai heads Siemens Oil & Gas Consulting Services in Middle East. With international career spanning more than 10 years with Siemens, Yousufzai started career as SAP consultant and later moved to Siemens International team for MES Solutions in the Oil & Gas Industry. Yousufzai has worked in leading roles in several MES projects including Toyota, Caspian Pipeline Consortium Russia, ExxonMobil, and Saudi Aramco.

Abstract:
The Process Industry has posed several challenges for Technology Providers in providing solutions to achieve the highest levels of Operational Excellence. With lower margins, high crude prices, high demand, and strict HSE regulations, there is a push to do more with less and leverage the know how of an aging work force across complex supply chains. 17th Middle East Technical Exchange Meeting and Sponsor Recognition Event

MESA's Middle East Working Group conducted its final 2009 and 17th monthly technical exchange meeting on November 17th, 2009. The meeting was sponsored by Yokogawa - Middle East. More than 60 engineers from different solution providers and manufacturing users attended the meeting. Yokogawa presented a paper on "Real-time Production Organiser (RPO)". MESA's Middle East Working Group conducted its 16th monthly technical exchange meeting on October 27th, 2009. The meeting was sponsored by Invensys Process Systems - Saudi Arabia. More than 55 engineers from different solution providers and manufacturing users attended the meeting. Invensys presented a paper on "Beyond Enterprise Asset Management". In the industry, maintenance functions typically strive to maximize asset availability while operation functions strive for maximum asset utilization. MESA's Middle East Working Group conducted its 10th quarterly technical meeting in Saudi Arabia on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at the Intercontinental Hotel, Al Khubar. More than 40 professionals attended the meeting, representing various manufacturers/producers and solution providers in the local MES industry for oil & gas. The meeting was sponsored GE Fanuc Automation Solution Saudi Arabia. As manufacturing increasingly becomes an essential part of a company's Extended Enterprise Supply Chain, the role of Manufacturing IT and the integration to plant and business systems is key to many companies success. GE explored the role that standards play in a company's Manufacturing IT solution and importantly the ability for that company to ensure that the People, Plant and Processes can take advantage of Manufacturing IT and adopt it as part of their everyday business. MESA's Middle East Working Group conducted its 8th quarterly technical meeting in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday March 4th, 2008 at the Le Meridian Hotel, Al Khubar. More than 40 professionals attended the meeting, representing various manufacturers/producers and solution providers in the local MES industry for oil & gas. The meeting was sponsored by Invensys Middle East FZE.  Invensys presented their Collaborative Operations Management Systems (OMS).  OMS is an integrated software systems that helps management to operate one or more facilities in a consistent manner, obtain feedback on how the manufacturing facilities are operating, compare their operation to the desired operating modes and goals, and make the necessary adjustments to operate the facilities in a better and efficient manner.  It is the software automation of the Business Processes that fills in the gap and enable the smooth flow of information between the Process Automation Layer and the Business Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) layer.
